CI Tech Component’s history begins with BEB Industrie-Elektronik AG, established in Burgdorf, Switzerland, in 1981. Initially, BEB developed industrial electronics for sensor tasks and later ventured and specialized in banknote recognition in 1995.
In 2011, CI Tech Components AG was born out of a joint venture between Giesecke+Devrient GmbH and Wincor Nixdorf AG. This collaboration was aimed at honing expertise in the realm of OEM banknote validation sensors and handling modules. The synergy of this partnership was evident as they catered to a diverse range of markets, from transport and retail to broader financial services and banking.
By September 1st, 2020, Christoph Mätzig, then the Managing Director, acquired all shares of CI Tech Components AG, becoming its sole shareholder. A couple of months later, in November 2020, a new branch was opened in Kirchheim/Munich, Germany to cater to the EU customer base.
